Keepin’ it Real

Pregnancy & Beyond

Jane is known for providing humor, wit and straight-forward talk on pregnancy, becoming a parent and motherhood.

Connect to your pelvic floor,
not your pee hole.

Kegels are often cued from the urethra. It’s the wrong hole. A pelvic floor muscle contraction is best initiated from deep in the yoni (your yoni).

Birth is a labyrinth, one step,
one breath at a time

Unlike a maze where you can get lost, a labyrinth is a path with twists and turns, breathe and keep going. You can’t get lost.

My yoni is not
a sheath.

Vagina in Latin means the scabbard or covering to the sword. Yoni means sacred passage.

The sacrum is my
favorite bone.

The supporting joints provide stability except in pregnancy. Your pelvis becomes fluid and adaptable and opens to create passage for babe.

Black Lives Matter +

Equitable Yoga

As a white woman, I had a blind spot about what my role could be to amplify women of color’s voices.

But no more, I am doing my best to become an ally in the capacity that I can.

I commit to using my influence and privilege to support prenatal yoga teachers and access to prenatal yoga for BIPOC and marginalized communities.

Yes, I may make mistakes.

I’m dedicated to doing the work to make yoga a more equitable resource.

What I’m doing:

  • Feature BIPOC teachers for Mama Tree Training
  • Scholarships to Mama Tree training for BIPOC
  • Partner with BIPOC teachers to include education on the Black Maternal Health Crisis in the US
  • Co-led a free prenatal yoga training to BIPOC individuals.
  • Uplifting and Featuring the work of BIPOC teachers and birth workers
